Global Day of Action on Military Spending (GDAMS), 24 April
is the key date each year for the Global Campaign on Military Spending (GCOMS), and is marked each year
by events and activities around the world on the day the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI)
releases the new global expenditure figures…
This year, GDAMS is on Monday, 24 April, part of a fortnight of activities running from 18 – 28 April.

Peace Movement Aotearoa has been the national contact in Aotearoa New Zealand for GDAMS since its inception and coordinates the national GCOMS – the Aotearoa New Zealand Campaign on Military Spending, http://www.converge.org.nz/pma/gdams.htm
We provide updated resources each year and are happy to assist local groups who wish to organise
‘Dollars and sense’ / ‘Welfare not warfare’ public forums. For GDAMS 2017, planning is already underway for the forum in Wellington organised by Peace Movement Aotearoa, and for the forum in Auckland organised by Pax Christi.

If you would like to organise a forum in your area about the urgent need to shift spending priorities away from funding armed forces towards meeting human needs,
or if you would like your organisation listed as a supporter of the Global Day of Action
http://www.converge.org.nz/pma/gdams-supp.htm
contact Peace Movement Aotearoa, pma with ‘GDAMS 2017’ in the subject line of your message.

John Pilger, new documentary: ‘The Coming War on China’
‘With dozens of US military bases encircling China with a “giant noose,” and America’s historic nuclear presence in the Pacific region, a war between the greatest military power and the world’s second largest economy “is no longer unthinkable,” journalist John Pilger says.’
